“There are cases where a timeout is the best thing… but there are some where I feel it’s more punishment than really necessary.”
Any punishment of children is more punishment than really necessary.
Words like “necessary” are used by parents and others to avoid accepting moral responsibility for their own actions. This suggests that they do know, on some level, that punishment is damaging.
