“Let those who choose to carve a human soul to their own measure be sure that they have a worthy image after which to carve it, and let them know that the power of molding an emerging intellect is a power of death as well as a power of life.”
– Norbert Wiener, 1953, Ex-Prodigy: My Childhood and Youth, Chapter 10: The Square Peg: Harvard, 1909-1910, p. 136
“Your connection with your children is what makes your family hum. To be relaxed with them, you’ll need people who are on your side as friends, listeners, and dedicated nurturers. Find them; appreciate them; get to know them; bring them closer. They’ll be lucky to have you in their lives. Start small. Meet them in the park, set up a quick game of Sunday basketball, or start up a children’s book exchange with them. Go from there. Make them your people!”
– Patty Wipfler, Tosha Schore, 2016, Listen: Five Simple Tools to Meet Your Everyday Parenting Challenges, Chapter 14: Building Support for Your Parenting
